PADI Instructor Developement Course [IDC] on Koh Tao Thailand

At DJL Diving, we've put together a number of different PADI Instructor Packages, so you can decide if you'd like to train as an PADI Assistant Instructor PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer [MSDT] or a PADI Staff Instructor.

Our packages include the instructor training courses, in addition to course costs you will need PADI Materials which you'll need to teach, plus all certification fees. You can order your PADI Materials through us for your IDC to take advantage of discounts we recieve from PADI, so for your standard IDC Crew pack you need to allow an additional 20,000 Baht. The costs of your Instructor Exam [IE], your Instructor and EFRI cards and your Instructor membership fee which you'll pay directly to PADI come to around another 1,100 AUD check the current exchange rate, you can check this directly on the PADI website.

Lunch is included during each day of your instructor course, plus if you arrive on Koh Tao a little before the IDC starts, you're welcome to take a few 'fun dives' off our dive boat, and familiarize yourself with our diving conditions.

We're happy to help arrange accommodation for the duration of your stay.

***** If you aren't already a PADI NItrox diver but would like to take advantage of the free PADI Nitrox Instructor training then you can always arrive on Koh Tao before the start of the IDC and do a Nitrox course with us.

Here's a detailed description of our PADI Instructor Package:

Introduction

Working as a professional Dive Instructor can be one of the most rewarding and challenging jobs a person can have. In addition to the inherent joys of introducing others to an environment with so many hidden wonders, today’ s dive instructors find themselves in an ever-expanding and diversifying market with new opportunities arising almost daily.

The DJL Diving Instructor Development Course (IDC) aims to prepare new instructors to meet and take advantage of those opportunities. The program is conducted by experienced PADI Course Director Peter Nieuwhof.

Our IDC follows a proven educational approach which focuses on real-life application of knowledge gained throughout the course. Business principles, marketing strategies and how to increase earnings through Instructor-level continuing education programs, are all addressed and discussed throughout the program.

Instructor Training Schedule

The DJL Diving PADI IDC schedule is another of its advantages. Conducted over 16 days and including free lunches at some of the best restaurants on Koh Tao, our program follows one of the most relaxed yet effective training schedules around.

All candidates attending the IDC will begin with a 2-day preparation course which will allow us to shore up any lost or unclear Divemaster theory and work on skills training in our on-site confined water training facility.
This will be followed by an 12-day AI/OWSI program which will include one and a half days of EFR Instructor training. Most days are split pretty evenly between water work and classroom time.
Rather than condensing all the info into the minimum possible timsescale, we opt for shorter days [finishing between 4 - 5 pm].
We feel that the shorter days [spread over a longer period] allow for an enhanced retention of the material covered.
The last 2 days before the PADI IE we will conduct a mock IE on our premises. This is just a chance to build confidence and prove your readiness on the days before you progress to the IE.
We guarentee success in the PADI Instructor exam. If you don't pass, we will pay for the repeat examination. This has never been necessary, as none of our candidates have ever failed.

Once you qualify as a PADI Instructor ....

Once you've qualified as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, you have the option to stick around and teach your first few certifications here at DJL Diving.
You'll get the chance to build up teaching experience plus if you opt to do the Silver, Gold or Platinum IDC packages you can get certified as a PADI Master Scuba Diver Traininer [MSDT], enabling you to teach specialty courses [e.g. deep, enriched air, navigation etc].
