Our lovely people….
Meet Neil, who came to Koh Tao a year ago to do a Dive Master internship with us for 3 months, never left and is now working for us as an instructor and boat handler! Coming from the astonishing city of Derby and in his day, a professional trumpet player with a famous English band, Neil [despite his performance in front of the camera], is one of the most entertaining employees we have. With his sardonic wit, relentless humming of one of his beloved Shirley Bassey songs and fondness for a large pair of speedos he’s never happier than when under the water scuba diving or above it driving our high speed rhib to cool dive sites like Chumphon Pinnacle.
Meet Christo, another one of our Dive Master trainees, now full time Dive Master, who came, saw what he liked and decided to stay. Christo, originally from South Africa but born to live in paradise is, despite his love of the ladies and a large Chang, passionate about diving Koh Tao like no other. When he’s not playing his guitar he’ll be pouring through a fish identification book learning the latin names for all the tropical fish on Koh Tao. Christo is just about to embark on his PADI Instructor Development Course [IDC] and we wish him lots of luck!
Meet Jess, our lass from Manchester, England. Jess manages to organize DJL Diving’s front desk with an air of professionalism that makes the rest of us look like a bunch of monkeys. Permanently rushed off her feet from meeting and greeting new students to making sure there are enough tanks on the boat she’s a priceless member of staff who still finds time to give Mitzy and Lula the shop dogs a cuddle and read Heat magazine…when some kind soul brings us a copy…?
Meet Jeremy, from a small town near Melbourne, Australia and travelling the world for four years working as a Dive Master in exotic locations such as the Red Sea, Indonesia, South America and now Thailand. Deciding to take his diving credentials to another level Jeremy has successfully completed his technical dive training course with Tim Lawrence at Davy Jones ’ Locker. Taking just over two weeks he began with the BSAC Combined Nitrox course then progressed on to the Extended Range. Jeremy is currently in Penang following leads on some potential marks that may locate an undiscovered military wreck.
Meet Rachel, who first began diving with BSAC in the UK. Having had enough of cold murky water she left England and came to Koh Tao. Lucky for us, she wandered past DJL shop, saw the BSAC Centre of Excellence sign and signed up for her Sports Dive course then her PADI Dive Master course. While Rachel was here she also did two PADI Speciality courses, PADI Deep where she dived to 40metres and PADI Nitrox which gave her more time to spend underwater!
